Challenges and Call for Unity in Democracy

Today, the biggest democratic country in the world is facing tough times. People are lynching and killing innocent humans without even thinking about what they are doing. Are those who are killing others really human?

Many people in our country have turned to Hinduism and Islam. A few years back, they identified as Indians first. Today, highly educated people have become pawns in political propaganda. Both internal and external politics have ruined our lives. The media and political parties have ridiculed us. Instead of focusing on becoming a developed country, we have been classified as a developing country according to UN statistics. Every political leader is making statements that sow division. The media repeatedly broadcasts such statements and news related to hatred.

The government and judicial systems are in a state of inertia, and I don’t believe they will wake up soon unless they experience personal loss. If they were to lose a loved one, they would march from Jantar Mantar to Kanyakumari. Have people really lost their sense of empathy? According to statistics from the past few years, the highest number of immigrants are from India. While I won’t claim that India is at the top of the list, the numbers have been the highest in the last 3 to 4 years.

On social media, a campaign has started with the hashtag #NotInMyName against lynching and mob killings. Celebrities have also expressed their support for this campaign. However, some people are targeting them for supporting this campaign, even asking them to convert to another religion. Have these individuals completely lost their minds?

As a citizen of India, I request and urge you to support humanity and humanitarians, not political parties. Consider the future of your loved ones before taking any steps. If an “eye for an eye” law were in place, everyone would eventually be blinded. Your compassionate actions can contribute to the beauty of my country, India. Please support my country’s constitution and the democratic rights of its citizens. None of our religious beliefs endorse lynching and killing of innocents. Those who commit such acts in the name of religion often misunderstand their own faiths. For me, my foremost religion is my country’s constitution, which upholds democracy and human rights.

You may or may not like my post, but I implore you to at least consider this: if what is currently happening were to occur with your loved ones, how would you feel? Act in support of national development and humanism. I earnestly beseech all of you to save my country. I urge all government officials to take action against the culprits and safeguard my beloved country, India. Jai Hind!
